This lecture aims to reflect on critical racial literacy in the Brazilian context and how critical racial literacy can contribute to understanding social identity issues mainly related to English textbooks. Thus, the lecture brings analysis of some textbooks, which will not be mentioned authors or publishers, because the objective is to reflect on representativeness and how we can learn about representativeness and think about future actions that are anti-racist and treated in an intersecting way, that is, considering race, gender and social class. In this lecture I reflect on: 1) How are social identities represented in English language textbooks? 2) How critical racial literacy can contribute to this reflection in favor of a critical linguistic education of the English language.
