Sobre o evento
In the past months, many educators have been faced with the challenges of emergency remote teaching. Even though they might have insecurities due to lack of proper training and support to manage online teaching successfully, teachers also feel they are in a very important position to support students. Children and teenagers are physically distant from their friends and school community so being home means losing connections and missing out on experiences. They might also fear for their parents’ lives or that they lose their jobs. Adults might be filled with anxiety due to the same reasons. Some learners might have even lost relatives or friends. How can students focus on learning during these times?
In this online workshop, the presenters will highlight the positive impact of promoting the development of social and emotional competences in English lessons for all ages and levels. As such competences are closely connected with cognition, students have the opportunity to develop as a whole, learning valuable skills for life. We will look at theory and practice and present ideas that teachers can implement in their online lessons.
